Visualize taking divot of sand the size of dollar bill—thin and elongated, not deep. Enter 1-2 inches behind ball and drive FORWARD under ball, not DOWN into sand.
Feel like SLAPPING sand with sole of club (not digging), hearing crisp 'slap' sound. After slapping, feel right wrist 'catching raindrops from above' as you follow through high.
On finesse shots, feel opposite sequence of full swing: CLUB starts down first, then arms, THEN body. Like 'throwing' clubhead at ball while body stays quiet initially.
Hold club as lightly as possible—hands should feel 'dead' and disengaged. Clubhead weight does all the work. If you can't feel clubhead throughout swing, you're too tense.
Before the swing, feel your wrists already "loaded" with the clubhead slightly behind your hands. Carry this pre-loaded sensation into your backswing—no need to create hinge, it's already there.
Set 60-100% weight on front foot (more for firm lies). Feel like driving club DOWN into ground, not helping ball up. Open clubface creates 'drive down, ball pops up.'
Focus on turning shoulders to initiate chipping motion. Even though you're breaking wrists and getting hands ahead, first move is shoulder turn.
On backswing, feel right elbow sliding along side like running along track on ribs while letting right wrist hinge softly. Keeps clubhead light and under control.
