Stand UP (taller) at address with rounded upper spine. In transition, squat DOWN into ball. Then push UP and extend through impact. 'For maximum speed and control, go up, down, up.'
Feel the club swinging around your body on a tilted circle—not lifting straight up and chopping down. Like your arms are tracing a hula hoop that's tilted to match your spine. More rotary, less vertical.
Imagine your trail elbow is lightly glued to your rib cage from address to follow-through. It never drifts away from your side—it slides along your torso like it's on a track. On the backswing it folds against you; on the downswing it leads back down brushing your shirt.
Three sequential feels: (1) SHIFT—pelvis shifts laterally toward target first, (2) TUCK—trail elbow tucks down into side like 'low five,' (3) TURN—lead elbow rotates toward lead hip to square face.
Feel like the clubhead is being thrown out toward right field (for a right-handed golfer) through the hitting zone. The sensation is of swinging OUT rather than around or across.
At top, resist urge to PULL DOWN on handle. Feel hands stay up and wide while pelvis rotation causes club to shallow on its own. 'Leave hands up and turn—club drops down as long as you keep rotating.'
Feel like your back stays facing the target as long as possible during the downswing. Don't let your chest open until the very last moment. Back to target, then explode through.
